Luis Fernández Fernández’s Expertise Luis Fernández, Curriculum 1956: Luis Fernández was born in Santa Cecilia del Alcor (Spain). 1975: he began to work as a machinist and fitter at a factory as a maintenance mechanic. 1989 : he decided to leave his job and enrolled in the prestigious « A Stradivari » Professional Violin making School of Cremona. 1993 : he received the title of « Master Luthier », under the guidance of maestro Vincenzo Bissolotti, one of the world´s most famous violin makers. September 1993: he opened his own workshop in Valladolid (Spain) 1997: he moved to nearby Trigueros del Valle (about a 15-minuted drive north of Valladolid), where he has got his Workshops next to his house. 2005: he provided with instruments the Conservatory School of music of Valladolid. 2006: he was awarded with the first prize for workmanship by the Regional Goverment of Castilla y León. 2009: he resulted finalist in the National Workmanship Prize. 2009 and 2010: He taked part in the International Trade Fair of string-struments in Cremona (Italy). Since 2008 : he has teached the subject of Lutherie at the High Conservatory School of Music of Salamanca. Since he began constructing instruments, Luis Fernández has up until now made more than seventy bowed instruments, among them violins, violas, cellos, violas d´amore, violas da gamba and other Medieval and Baroque instruments. He is highly apreciated for the care and patience he uses in restoring and setting up both old and modern instruments. Specialties: Violin Maker and Restorer: contemporary and baroque violins, violas, cellos, violas d´amore and violas da gamba.
